Tow/Haul works Intermediately

I hope this is the right forum... I just started noticing when I go to put my truck in to Tow/Haul it doesnt always come on... No light on the dash and no difference int he truck.. but yet every once ina while I will turn it on to se eif it works and there it is.. light comes on int he truck and truck down shifts.

I called Ford and asked them if this was covered under the drive train warrenty and the guy acted like I was speaking in Chineese, never got a straight answer.

when I recently bought mine, I was concerned that the Tow/haul mode wasn't working. light came on, but no down shifting. dealership printed out from internet that the truck senses a load and the mode kicks in, but not if there's no load.
the light should still come on though. I'm curious if they were feeding me full of BS. it did down shift better if I was on the brakes a little, I think.

any better explanations? I'm now concerned too.

My 08 did the same thing,the tech at the diesel shop found a wire in the steering column pinched . The wire is right inside the steering wheel .I think they can take a panel cover off and fix it without removing steering wheel.
