The other alternative is get a SCT Xcal2 and have the EGR turned off in the PCM. Just remember to return the truck to stock before taling to the dealer for service. Keith

there are other components that can cause a p0404 code beside the egr itself, ebp sensor and turbo sticking can also cause this concern , if it hasnt been long since repair id take it back and complain

no, i dont know what it sounds like with it turned off, i should have said that i have a hyperpac and theres no option to turn it off. i just herd that the 04's had problems with this. its runing fine now but the when i got my hyperpac thats when i noticed the code and it went for about 2 months before it started to burn that white smoke and have no throttle responce.
