2007 F-250 Steering box problem. Please help

I have a 07 F-250 4x4 on 37" tires. It has a 8" fabtech coilover lift with their steering stabilzer kit. I am on my 2nd steering box (which is going out now). My problem is that the steering feels tight and nice, but after about a thousand miles or so the steering wheel becomes very loose and there ia about a 1/4" play before the wheels start turning. The first one was replace and they said that the spline on the sector shaft were sheered off. everything was good for a while but now it is starting to do it again. I have called fabtech and the shop that did the lift and no one has anything to tell me but "thats wierd". Can anyone give me any insight on what I can do or replace to fix this?

Also does anyone know where to get a new steering box at a good price.
How hard would it be to replace it myself.
Thanks for any and all help
