truck smokes and losses power

my girlfreind drives a 2004 f250 4x4 with the 6.0 powerstroke and sometimes when u are accelerating it will lose power and put out a puff of black smoke normaly this is when it is cold but has done it when it was warmed up truck is completly stock from what i knowi have changed the air filter and fuel filters as regular maintence with in the last month was just wondering if someone knew what this could be thanks for all the help james

We are going to need pics of your GF driving the truck to properly diagnose the issue

Probably has boost leak. Check all of the intercooler boots for tears and make sure they are on the tubes and tight.

thanks for the help im new to the diesel game i have worked on old ford trucks since i was about 13 but this is the first diesel but i will try to check that and see what i can find

i have a new problem now it quit on us yesterday was able to limp it to a buddies house it would not accelerate and when it did it was big puffs of white smoke but didnt smell like coolant i was told by a freind that it was unburned deisel and that the veins were sticking in the turbo and ideas on this thanks for the help
