Exclamation whats the problem?

a few days ago i went to work and the truck was running great like usual. then when i left i stoped a while later and opened my door and noticed a crackling sound and it osunded like it was coming from my exhaust. at the time i thought nothing of it and ever since it has stedily been getting louder and more spontanious. today i was driving on the highway at about 70-75 and the turbo psi was at 20 then the gauge started hopping over 20 then under 20 over and over until i let off the gas. i got off at the closeset exit and got on the back roads to go home. after i got off at the exit i stopped at a light and once i started moving again the turbo didnt run at all. a minute or so after the turbo started running high and low at standard speeds. after that i pulled over and checked under the hood and it seemed really hot. i sat for about 15 then started driving home again. before i left i did a system check on the control center and it said everything was ok nothing was hot or anything. the rest of the way home i drove very slow and it was making a funny sound i have never heard before when i got the engine to about 2000 rpm's tomorrow im going to take it to the shop but does anyone know what the problem is???

Are you getting any kind of sucking sound?
My first thought was your MAP sensor went out. Sporadic manifold pressure can do some crazy things.
The MAP takes 5 mins to change and $40 or so.
Anymore input would be good,

It could, It measures the pressure in the manifold. You can get multiple symptoms for a bad MAP sensor.
Turbo does not cycle
Turbo continues to build pressure
Turbo does not build pressure
Much more.

It could be many many things. EGR, vgt, map sensor... Thes are complex trucks, a good scan tool is a necessity with a 6.0l. Any smoke? If so what color? Check engine light? Any misfiring? more details would be great!
