No not for my truck....

Got a guy that was hauling with his 04 Dually 6.0L that's broken down on I-10. I'm being told he was hauling a 26ft trailer with another truck on it, and the truck started smoking, lost power, then died out. Now it won't re-start and sounds like the battery is dead. Any input?

Oh, and what is the max weight a 6.0L and 7.3L is rated to pull? One of my friends never believes what I say about diesels and tries to make me feel like I don't know anything...I coulda swore I read on here somewhere that 20k Pounds is pushing it...

dont know the weight but my 01 7.3 manual pulled a bobcat and backhoe on a 35 or somethin foot tripple double gooseneck. hopefuly that gives u some idea

could be egr, headgaskets, batterys, turbo some many possiblites......Sorry dont no what else to tell you

You know we're gonna need more info than that to figure it out....What color smoke? Was he just cruising, or did he get on the go pedal, etc. With the info that I have and what I know of the 6 leakers...It is possible to blow a headgasket so bad the the cylinders fill up with water and hydrolock the motor. That is the best idea with the info given. That being said....somewhere on here earlier today there was a discussion about hauling 20k+ with a 6.0/7.3 etc. I'll see if I can pull it up.

Here...It's not a F-250/350, but the concept is there. Driveline will have more issues than the engine pretty much every time.

to see if it's hyrolockled or just dull batteries, get on the crank bolt with a breaker bar. if you can turn it over the batteries may just be dead.
but, obviously you have bigger chickens to fry if it's smoking badly.

I dunno, I'm giving you the info I recieved. I told him probably blew the head gaskets...I don't think the dude is studded or has gauges...so I'm guessing it got too hot?

Ewww....That is possible without the gauges and hauling that much....Did he have any tuners, etc. or was it rock stock? BTW, who the heck is this guy? Do I know him?
