Slow start?

I have a 2005 CC FX4 Lariat F250. I am relatively new to diesels, so I am not sure what to expect. I have read about cold start issues, but usually that is when it is below 20 degrees. When it is 50* outside my truck takes around 3-4 seconds to start. Yesterday, it was about 35*, and it took closer to 7or 8 sec of cranking to start.

Is this normal, or should i be concerned?

The 3 to 4 is probly normal, id get it reflashed and recheck. 7 to 8 seconds sounds kinda long, but then again ive never really looked into it before, so get it reflashed and recheck!

Ok...I know I will sound like a complete idiot, but what exactly is reflashing? I assume I just take it to the dealer and they reprogram it? How much should this run me?

Its a good question! Its when the technician reprograms the computers in your truck with latest updates to fix varius problems like hard cold starts. Your truck may be under warranty, if its 100,000 miles or 5 years. Just go in and say it starts hard when cold, if its under warranty they can take care of it. Dealerships do it, some independents can do it too(but not under warranty).

brother i dont want to scare you but you are pobably fixing to have some oil pressure problems, u may have a small leak now that will turn into a biger leak and your truck wont start. there is a major common problem with the hpop and the ipr valve, just had to work on my ride it died on me on the highway and had to tow it to my house and spend about $300 dollars in parts. check this link out Diesel Technician Society

Yes you could be correct, but you must start with the reflash. The reflash does correct most hard start issues. If it still starts hard after the reflash more diagnosis is necessary
