Turbo Noise

Have an 03 6.0 and when I floor it and left off it makes a shuttering noise and can here it through the intake. Its coming from the turbo. Its not a whine and really dont no how to describe it besides how I did.

do you have the stock intake still? because with my 97 i put the stock intake back on and the turbo would make a noise like that, i think it was because it wasnt getting enough air, after i put my aftermarket intake back on it went away. i could be totally wrong but im just telling you this because i noticed it and it sounded like what you are trying to explain.

I think that is all the preasurized air in the intake and intercooler rushing back out through the turbo.

It did it with the stock intake on it and I just put a K&N on it and now just sounds louder. It only does it when letting off to. It runs perfect no power loss just wondering if its normal or not.

I believe that is what we call a "turbo fart", its nothing to worry about. I get the same thing when I get on the pedal then let off really quick. Its exactly what someone else said ahead of me, about the air pressure coming in the intake then released suddenly. It has to escape somewhere, so it goes back out the intake making the whooshing sound you hear. Hope that helps!

yep thats exactly what it does. when u get on it quit and let off it. I just thought it was weird cause my buddy has an 03 and it doesnt do it. thanks for the help guys

My truck does the same thing (04). The previous guys are correct about the "turbo fart". It only does it if you accelerate quickly, not during "normal" driving.

your fine its just the unwanted air. the turbo is pushing it out when u let off the acc your still forcing the air through and it pushes it back out and thats the sound your hearing

yea, i totally read it wrong the first time i thought you said it was doing it when you floored it, yea its normal for it too do that, its just the air it doesnt need coming back out of the intake.
