Smoke and stuttering motor

Hey guys, I noticed my 6.0 acting up the last couple of days and especially today. When I have the truck at about 1/2-3/4 throttle, about normal acceleration throttle, and up around 2800-3000 rpm's it is like I have loss of power. Furthermore, when I peg it immedietly after that it hesitates and then takes off and upon letting off the throttle I get a cloud of blue/white smoke. The truck has been doing this for about 4 days now. And today when I got in it and started driving it was making a strange popping noise almost like a backfire, and the truck was warmed up too. Any ideas???

2003 6.0 F350 dually on high cholesterol fuel (WVO)
2000 7.3 Excursion also on a high cholesterol fuel

Don't have a scan tool, or tuner but my buddy does so I'll have to see if it pulls any thing up.

Going to check for codes in a couple of hours, but in the mean time the truck is still acting up. Coming up my hill to my house is was popping again and the truck started bucking, and did not have full power. I was getting a little vibration in the steering wheel to. Any ideas guys?

Thats what mine did when my EGR valve was getting clogged up with sout and was hung open. Pull it out and check it, i welded mine after having to pull it out 4 times to clean it.

Scan it first before you go guessing. If its EGR, it will have a code to tell you that.

Scanned it today and got a low voltage reading on injectors 1-8. Went to the dealer and told them and they said its the FICM (Fuel Injection Control Module) so there going to change it Friday morning...hopefully that will fix it, cause it was bucking and popping like crazy today.

"I wouldn't suggest driving it until it's fixed unless you have a two truck following behind you" were the exact words I said to one customer who brought it in, and couldn't leave it. A few days later, it came back in on a tow truck.

And that WILL fix it. Unfortunately the high rate of failure of these FICMs is causing an extreme shortage of supply on hand. I'm amazed that your dealer can obtain one that soon.

Truck went in last Friday for the new FICM unit and is all better now . Thanks for the help guys.
