06 powerstroke

My 06 f-550 was sitting at a light idling fine, then out of no where the tach jumps to about 2500 rpms.
Now it seems like the tach has a mind of its own???
And of course it just ran out of warranty!!!
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!!

Wow your '06 is already out of warranty?
Is the engine revving up or is the tach just going by itself?

Yeah

is the the tach the only thing jumping or is the rpm also. Because we have seen some issues with the newer clusters.

Its just the tach, all the other gages work fine.
It now is idling at 0 rpms. But when you rev it up the tach moves, it's just wrong!!!
Is there a tach module or something?

I have a post about this same issue.

My tach is crazy.

Does it need a replacement cluster?

Sounds like it is messed up from start to rev? And it revs up on it's own. Good luck. I hate electricle ghosts.

It doesn't rev up on it's own. Everything else works fine on the truck.
JUST THE TACHOMETER HAS A MIND OF IT'S OWN!!!
