I just did an engine change in truck I bought that came in dead and wasn't running when I bought it (04 F350). Got the new engine in and done, now needing to charge the A/C. However there isn't any Freon in it yet and the compressor runs continuously even with the low pressure switch unplugged. I cant find anything wrong with the system so I am hoping someone here can point me in the right direction. THanks
This is by design but I have no idea why.
Fords a/c system is computer controled by way of the climate control module.
It will cycle the compressor even when the heater is on, again why I don't know
I just know that it does by personal observation. I have worked on too many 6.0 with the heat on and observed that compressor cycleing on and off for a few seconds every few seconds. Scared the *rap out of me the first time I had it happen.
Best guess is the climate control can override the pressure switches for whatever reason it does it.
I can't say for certain this is what is happenin in your case but to me sounds like it.
