Angry truck died today

well my truck died today ......was driving down the road started to loose power and it got worse and worse untill it died ...........while i was waiting for the tow truck i keeped trying to start it and after a while it did and my brother in law said he saw white smoke .......and then it just died again ......so i have to take it in and see what the damage is ........any thoughts on what it could be ?
