Possiable scat in the fuel tank or filters. Cold fuel does not flow as good as warm fuel.HPOP can also be effected by thick engine oil . Have you changed the oil recently ?
I am guilty of no warm up. In rev before I let off the key.

Do you run BIO FUEL???
Sounds like a Cold Start issue, Glow plugs, bad injector(s) or possibly, filter clog, if your water in fuel light is not on, then change both Fuel Filters, and check them for signs of rust or fuel tank lining on the filter element. one of my fleet trucks we recently bought had a simalar problem, ran like crap in the morning untill it got fully warm, it turned out that the previous owner had run a high level of Bio fuel, as in B20 or higher, and it ate the fuel lining out of the tank, causing filters to plug prematurely and a couple of injectors to fail, in all Filter change, new tank, system flush, and 2 new injectors to fix the problem, ouch, good luck with yours.
