I don't believe so. In most cases, extended warranties are a money maker for who ever is selling it. Anything that happens after 100k miles is probably just due to age and mileage rather than manufacturer defects.

If his turbo were to fail and be replaced under the extended warranty, hes still out 1,000 bucks as a tubo replacement i think is 1500 bucks. If all 8 injectors failed, he would have saved money buying the warranty...that repair is about 3200.00 Point is, alot of repairs wouldn't cost that much in the first place.
Consumer reports had an article about extended warranties and they are definaltely a cash cow for the manufacturers. They don't pay off more often than they do.
And if he has mods on the truck, hes gambling to loose it all too.
Ford just cancelled the remainder of my 100k warranty because I pissed them off trying to get payment for my injector replair that wasn't warrantied because they claim I was using Bio-Diesel.

Gotta read the fine print also. I didn't buy the extended warranty when I got the truck in Aug 2005, then last month I got a letter from my dealer offering one thru a subsidiary of Auto Nation. Gave them a call, and the first question they asked was 'Do you pull a 5th wheel trailer?'. I asked 5th wheel travel trailer or 5th wheel gooseneck cargo hauler? They said 5th wheel anything. Said yes, travel trailer ..... oops, well we can't sell you one as you made holes in your bed and we wont honor any warranty work cause the truck was modified. Does that mean that if I mounted a toolbox that bolts to the bed, it would also void the warranty?

BS - the beepbeepbeepbeep thing was designed to tote up to an 18,300Lb fifth wheel, and they were afraid it was overloaded (my trailer is only 14,000 loaded for vacation). At least they were honest and didn't take my money then tell me sorry charlie, but when I'm well within my vehicle capacities, it's sort of agrivating that they put that kind of a restriction on it.

I own an 05 f-250 and 35k right now and I'm also thinking about whether or not to get FORDS ESP. If the injectors and or turbo was to fail would that still be under the the 100k engine and powertrain warranty given by FORD

Paid $4000 for 100,000mile bumper to bumper Ford warranties twice and havent used them once at 70,000 now! The 100,000 mile factorty powertrain will cover injectors, turbos, egr(though technically an emissions item), and other problem areas. I was originally worried about the tranny with the heavy towing I do, thats why I bought the extended warr.. In hindsight these are the best trannies i've ever seen! So much for that $8000! Will never do that again! 130,000 combined miles on 2 6.0's and not one problem!

Personally I wouldnt drive a truck off the lot without an extended warranty. Just like I wouldnt drive without uninsured motorist coverage. You may get a sick-0 that never has any problems, but if you dont how much is that piece of mind then?? Thats all that extended warranties are for( and to make whoever sells them richer). If you were on a road trip with your daughter and the injectors take a crap and you only had 1500 in the bank, then what. Like I stated earlier how much is piece of mind. Must extended warranties are transferable so that also adds to the resale value. If you do buy an extended warranty make sure its either from Ford or through a reputable company.

I didnt buy an extended when I got my truck, it's an 05 and had 32000 miles on it when I got it, I figured hell it still got 4k miles in warrenty and they wanted a butt load of money for the warrenty, well by the time the 3rd week of having the truck, it was going into the shop for the 2nd time, I was furious, so I contacte the BBB and started filing against ford and the dealer where I got the truck from, before I even got the paperwork from the BBB ford had contacted me, I ended up getting a 5yr 75k mile warrenty after the factory warrenty expires, I'm not totally happy but it was a nice jesture, if I continue to have problem's, I'm contacting my lawyer and going after them to try and buy it back, I hope it dont come down to that, cause I really like the truck.
