cracked front cover

I am looking at a 2005 f250 6.0 at a ford dealer. i asked for a list of things fixed under the Warranty. they replaced the turbo at 38000miles no big deal but the front cover and lp oil pump were replaced becaues of a crack at 42000miles. have any of you heard of this Happening. the truck now has 42000miles on it. what could have caused the cover to crack besides debris in the gerotor style oil pump. i no alot about the 6.0 and have worked on a ton of them and have never heard of this. i love the truck but i dont want to buy it if it is going to have Problems even if its under Warranty.

I (we) have never seen a cracked front cover on a 6 oh but anything is possible (could have been a flaw in the casting...who knows)...i wont be too worried about that...but thats just my 2 cents.

on the 6.0 there is a pipe that has to do with the water coolant system and when it is removed it can sometimes crack the cover.

its a known problem, allot of the high horsepower modded trucks running well over 4k rpm break them allot, but on a stock truck its usually from a peice of metal getting sucked up into the pump, the pick up screen isnt much of a screen. does it have a fluiddamper on it?
