NEW OWNER QUESTIONS!!!!!

Hello guys, thanks for all you do. This is a great forum and ive been intrigued with all the great information and knowledge that is on these boards. Heres the question. I recently bought an 06 f350 fx4 dually. This truck has 118,000 miles on it and appears to run like a friggin champ. I noticed that when its around 40-50 degrees or so it can sometimes take it 3-4 seconds (or maybe a tad longer) to start. This is of course after you let the glowplugs warm up as prescribed. I have had an 04 dodge and a 97 7.3l ford. I cant remember how long it normally took for all my other diesel pickups to start up. I might also be just looking for something to be wrong with my new baby. Is this normal or should i be looking for something to replace or repair? I also wanted to know if there are any good aftermarket mods that will enhance the life of my truck and maybe make it perform better and get better gas mileage without hurting it at all. I do not mind leaving it stock. Should i add anything? thanks for the help guys.

Glow plugs may be getting a bit weak Someone has really put her to good use. An SCT tuner will wake her up and give you better mpg as long as you keep your foot out of it.

Yah, i didnt think that was too many miles with it being a diesel and all was i wrong? What kinda miles should one expect to get outta one of these trucks before it starts having major problems? tuners and such are totally new to me. Will that harm the truck in any way or is there a chance that it could mess it up? Would a k&n air filter in the stock box be ok to put in it? thanks again guys. happy holidays

Hope your liking the new rig...

As i posted on another link, because it is getting colder out, even with glow plugs and plugged in ford says it should take 3-6 seconds of cranking for the engine to start.

Best of luck with the 6 oh...
