ok i have a new truck. it has the banks 6gun with speed loader and banks monster exhaust.

with the 6 gun set on level 1
I was pulling a 69 charger on a flat bed trailer with the tow mode on and cruse set at 65. My boost guage would go up to about 34lbs going up hills. is this normal? seems a little high to me but i am new to diesels.

also my check engine light came on but everything seems fine. Does the ford have a check engine warning when it is time for an oil change? if so how do you reset it after i change my oil.


anyway these are just some newbie questions i have and i know someone on here can answer my dumb questions..

what is the level 1 HP setting? we need to know what kind of engine you have also! (or just what year) Is there a trouble code showing up with your check engine light?

sorry. i have an 03 6.0ltr diesel.

i dont have an error code just my check engine light is on. and as far as the horse power ratings for the differnt levels of the 6 gun i have no idea. and i cant find those stats anywhere.

I'm guessing the CEL is going to be a "overboost DTC". I hit over 30 once when I had the boost tapped in the wrong place (before the intercooler). Now I'm lucky to see 27psi pulling the 4runner up a 7% grade.

so you think my cel could be from it boosting too much. Even with the 6gun set at lvl 1 it would hold about 33lbs all the way up the hill. I am going to get a code reader today after lunch and see what it comes up with. the truck seems to run fine and even when it was holding the 33lbs i was keeping an eye on everything the egts were a little over 1000 and all seemed well.


maybe i will just take the truck back to banks and see what they say.

Better yet, ditch the banks and get a SCT from Innovative . The best/safest electronic power adder for the 6.0 IMO.

I agree with GGoodman, 37 psi of boost and low EGT's is weird. 37 psi should have the go pedal mashed to the floor dumping fuel in making the EGT's rise. In my truck at WOT I'll hit 1300-1400* EGT

i want to keep my banks tuner. I know there are better ones out there but i already have this one installed and i dont race the truck just want some extra power.

ya i thought my EGTs would be a little hight. they might have hit 11 or 1200 tops but for the most part they seemed to be fine.

as far as tapping into the boost system in the wrong spot. shouldnt the pressure be equal no matter where you tap into it.

i hope i can get this figured out.

With the banks why would it overboost if there is no way to really tune it. it just comes with their loads on it. and from what i am reading the banks is pretty conservative
