dash lights and trans shifting problems

My buddy has an 06 f250 xlt auto, his problem is sometimes after he starts his truck, the 4x4 light, 4 low light come on and stay on, he loses the read out for his mileage and the door chime stays on. Also when it does this, while he is driving with this, his trans doesn't shift right, it like is hunting for the right gear. Any ideas?

Check all your ground wires to the body, use dielectric grease on PCM connectors and see what happens.
