EGR Delete and Engine Check Light

I know that adding a Tune (SCT) can delete the Check Engine light and stop the vehicle from looking for the EGR. However, reading alot of posts, I do not want to add a tune to my truck.

Has anyone out there found a way to stop the system for looking for and checking the EGR after an EGR Delete Kit has been added?

And that would be the only way. Adding resistors inline with the egr valve, or any other electrical hokus pokus won't work because the code is not thrown because of a single monitoring point.

I'm running an egr delete kit that removed the egr cooler, replaced the up pipe, but I still have my egr valve in place and connected, and even with a stock tune, it won't throw an egr code. I like it because the valve is basicially just there for decoration and doesn't arise suspicion.

What year is ur truck?

What did you use to get the "Stock Tune?

I replaced the EGR Cooler with an EGR Delete Kit, cleaned the EGR Valve and pluged it back up. I still get the EGR code tripping the Check Engine Light.

The truck is a 2007 F350 4X4

On an 07, there is 0 chance you are getting rid of that light without a tune.
It is very rare on an 05 that you won't get the CEL just by leaving the EGR valve plugged in.
andyjman: if you have done the delete in the last month or two, you are not in the clear yet. I have an 06 and didn't get my first CEL for 2 months. After that they become more frequent until you get one every day.

By the way, leaving the EGR valve in place and live electronically is recommended because if you have certain factory tuning strategies, unplugging the valve can have a detrimental effect on the cooling fan operation.

It is bolted in place and plugged up. I am reading on another web site egr delete check engine light - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums that the "scangauge 2 ..... has a setting for the egr valve & CEL to turn off". I am looking through the scanguage manual now but I don't think this is true.

Doubt it. We would have all heard that one by now. That thread is years old.
