Air condition issue

I have had an intermittent a/c issue for a while now. Periodically when I start the truck, the a/c will not kick on. I turn the switch to off and leave it for about 10 minutes and then turn it back on. Then everything works fine. It has happened twice in the last week. Before that it happened once last summer. I am leaning towards something in the head unit in the dash, switch maybe, but don't really know where to start.

I changed the a/c compressor, dryer, and orphace tube last may.

Checked with dealer today. There is a switch behind the on/off control(far right knob). Parts guy said it has a electrical connector and a vacuum connection. The switch in inexpensive and shouldn't be hard to change, but I have another question: Could it be possible that my vacuum pump could be getting weak. When I turn it off, could it just take a few minutes to build up enough vacuum to start the air condition? I kind of feel that I'm reaching way out there. I should probably just change the switch and roll with it.
