EGR Cooler?
I had the egr valve replace in my '05 F250. W/in 5 miles I smelled anti-freeze and called the dealership. They said this would go away. It did for a while. I pulled a 5th wheel trailer approx. 2000 miles and drove it w/out the trailer approx. 3000 miles and began smelling anti-freeze again and very strong this time. I called the dealership and they said to put more coolant in and replace the radiator cap w/a new one & bring it in when I get back from my trip (approx. 900 miles away). Of course I didn't make it home. It hytro-locked on the interstate w/5th wheel t/t in tow. I had the egr cooler & oil cooler replaced & water drained off the pistons... and I still smell anti-freeze. Anybody know what's up now? Help! and Thanks!

Headgaskets? Just a thought. Did they replace the coolant cap when they did the egr cooler?

It has to be gaskets.

I feel the same way but the Ford dealership doesn't want to admit that. They want me to tow my %th wheel on another trip to find out what it is. I don't think I want to do that! Anyone got any suggestions on what I should do to get them to do something? Thanks

If the motor hydro locked I would demand that they rip that motor's heads off so I could see the inside of it. And why they are off have them inspect the heads to make sure they are flat, not warped, or cracked. At that point they would be putting in some ARP studs under warranty as far as I'm concerned.
You shouldn't have to drive your damaged truck around on another trip for them to figure out what is wrong with the truck. |
