Starts and dies cold

Ok having a few issues. When it is cold out (0-20) my truck will crank forever and then fire. Black and white smoke pouring out. It will stay at and idle for a few seconds and then just die. It will crank forever fire up and do the same. Probably will do this 3-4 times until it will stay running. If I leave the truck plugged in it's fine. Starts up and runs fine!

Little about the truck. Just under 20k on new long block, rebuilt injectors, icp, ipr, hpop, and rebuilt turbo. Truck has always started fine without plugging in until recently.

I am due for an oil change, has 15-40 rotella in it. I plan on changing to t6. Filters were changed late last summer. Always have the lonney wild on it.

When the long cranks happen it does take a little bit till the oil pressure gauge moves up as well. Any help is appreciated.

Switch it to the T6 like planned and also check your FICM voltage. 15w-40 oil is hard to get moving when it's that cold.

Well what's gets me is that it has always started fine. All last winter I never plugged it in would start right up and idle just fine.

Some more info I left out.

I will check ficm this weekend when I get a chance! Was already planning to do that but left my multi-meter at home. I work out of state.
