New owner of a used truck - questions

Howdy to all from West Texas! I just bought an 2005 F250 King Ranch FX4 crew cab 6.0 Diesel. Had 50K miles on it and has been set up with nice bumpers, system , etc.

Question comes to the chip and monitor he had installed. He has a Bully Dog monitor installed and a Predator stageII chip. I believe the item is 3013.

He had the monitor set up as if it had a triple dog installed. I changed it over to the other 6.0 setting which is set up for stock or a different type of BD chip. My main question is what should I have that monitor set up on in order to experience any benefits from the chip. Quite honestly, I don't see any difference on any of the 4 settings you can choose with the monitor.

I am pretty new to this whole diesel thing, so bear with me if my question seems overly simple.

What should the monitor be set on in order to reap some better MPG or flat out performance? Is the chip even affected by the monitor in the first place?

Thanks in advance,

Chris
