A new sound...is it normal?

So yesterday I took my truck to the dealer to get some recal work done and while I was there had them change the oil and fuel filters. Now when ever I turn the truck off it sounds like somthing keeps running but I have no clue what it could be. It never made this sound before I took it in but now it dose it everytime I shut it off. It sounds like a fast high pitch rattle or clicking and will last for about 20 or 30 seconds then gose off. Is this normal or do I need to take it back? Oh and one more thing, $140 bucks to change the fuel filter? dose that sound right to have it done at the dealer?

It sounds like you got reflashed with a newer program that cycles the injectors after shutdown. I don't know much about it, but I know I have heard of such a thing.

$140 sounds a little bit like a ripoff to me.

Yea they told me they reflashed the computer and one of the recal work was fuel injector controll module wiring harness repair. So this sound is normal nothing to worry about.

Yea when they told me the price for the fuel filter replacment I nearly craped my pants and then threw it at them but of course I didnt find out till after it was done. 70 for the filter and 70 for labor. The place I went to is known for screwing people but I thought that was only there sales people not the service guys. Oh yea and it gets better, after sitting for 2 and a half hours waiting for them one of the guys comes in and tells me that my front diff. and T case need the fluid change and the price he gave me.......$269.95 BUT he offered me a %10 discount......I didnt have a problem with telling him no on that one.

Jorkon, no offence intended to you, but this is really only about a ten minute bloody job and maybe a $30 filter... The Dealerships make more money on service than they do selling the truck... Unless you are made of money, get a shop manual off Ebay or the DVD or something, and learn how to do the basics like that yourself. Even the 6.0 Bible is on this site, some 90 pages or something above Courtesy of Marc I think, anyway it is there...

Save the Dealerships for the complex or big things you cannot handle.. Routine maintenance learn to do yourself... Lesson learned 40 years ago... Ranger in Oz

Ok Jorkon, here is a start for you...

There are two fuel filters, both paper element types, not a thread on filter like in the old days... On on the engine, and one underneath inside the chassis about under your bum on the drivers side... But get the 6.0 litre Bible and consult... You are off to a good start. Most of the hard yards in life are not such a cheap lesson!!!! :censord: from Australia
