White smoke

I put my 4" straight pipe on Saturday morning now every time I start my truck it lets out a puff of white/grey smoke and you can see a real faint grey smoke coming out for about a minute then it stops. It only does this when its a cold start? I run the extreme street tune on my SCT

Are you talking about where you add coolant to the engine? If so then yes it is to the full mark when cold. There is also a white substance around the cap like the coolant leaked out, but it has always done that. It has around 8000 miles on it, I changed the oil at 4000 miles and then again today.

drain enough coolant out of it through the radiator pet**** to bring it down the the very minimum mark on the bottle when its cold and you should take care of the coolant purge (the white stuff around the cap)........

as far as the white smoke....its your SCT. Its adding extra fuel when your motor isnt warm enough to burn it and it causes a bit of smoke. I bet if you take the tuner out of it it doesnt do it anymore or does it to a virtually unnoticable level....

Thanks ya'll, I know it would cause more black smoke, but I have always heard white smoke is not good. Just concerned.

that happened on my uncle's ford f1000 tractor. started it off after leaving the smokestack uncovered in a rainstorm. white smoke for about 5 seconds, and two sputters, and then went on working like nobody's business...just my 2 cents on what little knowledge i know about diesels
