Unhappy Weird squeel type noise....like an old car tranny???

Just picked up a 2005 F350 PSD 4x4, auto, 47k miles.... I have noticed a weird sound that sounds like an old card transmision whine. (hope I am making sense). But when the truck is in park or neutral I still hear the very subtle noise after I rev the engine when the rpms are going back down. Could it be the turbo?? The noise is different from the turbo whistle. Could it be in the tranny?? The tranny seems to shift fine after its warmed up. The truck runs great. Its just that subtle noise. Maybe its normal?? Just thought I might have someone out there figure it out so I can take it to the dealer and act like I know what I am talking about. I came across the Cummins line and am now on board with PSD. Thanks for helping the newbie!

My truck makes the same sound. With the high idle mod running the engine at 1200 rpm it is really pronounced. It is in my opinion the turbo. If you slowly increase the rpm, you will hear the pitch and speed of the noise change as the turbo spools up.

I'm interested to see what others say because I'm positive that it's turbo whine on my truck.

Y pipe.

We have had a run of cracked Y pipes that cause a horrible squeeling type noise.

I re-read the original post again, and maybe I'm not talking about the same thing. My noise is more of a whistle than a squeal. Where does the Y pipe fail so I can check mine out? My sound is more than the turbo whistle should be, but not a horrible squeal.

Question

Yeah my noise is very subtle and you can hear it when the truck is decelerating. Like a sick cat on a fence.
