Loud Brakes and ABS Light

I did front pads and rotors about 6 weeks ago. Had to use the old mangled pad clips as the new heavy duty pads only came with small "one size fits all" clips. (It actually said on the instructions that these clips may not fit the pads in this box!) Anyhow, after the swap I had the ABS light pop on once in a while, usually while my wheel was cranked and I was using the brakes (parking etc.)

Over the course of the last week the ABS light has been coming on and off more frequently and two days ago a grinding noise starting when I apply the brakes. Also, the calipers have been grabbing very loudly! I can hear them (thunk!) grab the rotors.

I ordered new, full sized clips (thinking they may be rubbing the rotors), but I'm not holding my breath. I'm jumping into it tonight, so if anyone has any ideas or has seen this issue, let me know!

I suggest you get it scanned with a Ford IDS scanner for best results.
Most aftermarket scanners will not read all of the abs codes.

Lord I shall lead them to the water but I will not try to make them drink

WOW! So I took the front tires off to inspect the brakes and I found that 2 Caliper Bracket bolts were only hand tight, 1 had worked its way 1/3 of the way out and 1 bolt was all together missing! I tightened them down firm when I did the job. I did a little searching on the forum only to see that this is a common problem! Guy at Advanced said they need LockTite when you install them and that it happens all the time!

Scary stuff. I have to go to the Ford dealer to pick up a new bolt today.
Thank God my family is ok after pulling a camper more than 1000 miles with bum caliper bolts.
