Replaced ABS sensor problem

I was attempting to work on my ball joints and did the rookie mistake of trying to pop the ABS sensor out of the hub instead of disconnecting it from the back. I ended up having to drill the sensor out I'm pretty sure there was probably some WD40 residue left from in the sensor hole when I put the new sensor in.

When I got the new sensor in the ABS light went off and truck braked fine(didn't notice it) when I pulled it 30ft out of the garage. Turned it back on later to drive it and after a few minutes of driving I would feel the ABS initiate and start pulsing when I would brake. After about 2 minute of driving the ABS quit initiating the brakes and the light came back on.

What did I break now / What do I need to do/clean/buy/repair to solve this?

there are metal shavings attatched to the face of the sensor probably. try cleaning and see if it helps
