Condition of my EGR valve

So I decided to clean out the EGR valve today and when I took it out it looks to be in terrible shape.Lots of soot and moisture.I believe the valve had never been cleaned but what is up with the moisture?Any help would greatly be appreciated.

it's oily soot

if your worried about the cooler park the truck nose down overnight then look at the manifold after you pull the valve

for now clean it up per the directions get a o ring kit and put it back in

After a week of thinking about the wet stuff on my egr valve and intake manifold I finally got a chance to park the pickup nose down and when I looked inside today I saw that the egr valve was dry,but there was some black fluid at the bottom of the manifold. What can this be?

Black fld...well your egr cooler could be failing. Or this could be from the crank case vent. Check out the ccv mod. And probably a little late but remember to use carb cleaner not brake cleaner when cleaning the egr valve.
Good thing is you can delete the egr cooler and do the ccv mod and take care of this issue!
