Cracked rim

2006 f350 Harley model 79k stock rims
Ok here it is cleaning truck saw a huge crack in rim. Took it to shop never seen it before ended up by four aftermarket rims don't wanna chance this again on a factory wheel. Wife and I were leaving for a 2k trip now not in truck cause rims were ordered. Has anyony seen this or heard of it. It's from spoke to spoke on the wheel. I don't overload it and no hitting of potholes, but I would think a rim on a truck this size should be durable. Any input would be great. Going to ford after vaca. Happy travels in our Hyundai sonata now!!! Thanks josh

This was a pretty common thing on the 05-07 Harley factory wheels.

Glad I'm replacing all of them, does ford do anything for you or just eat it?

What size tires were you running (either now or in the past)? I have a theory that the cracked rim phenomenon might be associated with putting too wide of tire on too narrow of rim.

Bought it usee with 58k...had factory goodyears..not sure if replacements or not but they were what truck comes with. Was gonna get new tires this winter just made me do it sooner. Its an engineering flaw no doubt in my mind

Wow. Glad you caught it before it failed catastrophically.

There should be no problem with the factory AT/S tires in terms of size versus rim width.
