Intermittent transmission slipping
Hey y'all. Been awhile since I've been on.....truck has run great since all the reccomended upgrades reccomended.
I am a complete idiot when I comes to trannies.....so I'll get set the story and y'all have at it.
16 y/o kid hit me head on with explorer a few weeks ago. Explorer hauled away on flatbed, my 350 drivable, no airbag deployment. Ranch Hand Bumper took full brunt. Noticed next day steering out of alignment and immediately take it in for repairs. Damage: bumper, DS light, DS fender, and steering gearbox. All replaced....looks great.
Picked it up last friday.....drive to Austin (100 miles, interstate), driving great, stop at light, start up fine.....then engine revs, RPMs near 3k, THEN finally kicks in gear. Did that each time until I turned truck off.
Next morning fine, short trip. Later on Sat it did it again. Parked. Later on, started fine and then started again.
Drove home Sunday and only happend once in city traffic and was fine on interstate. Took son to school this morning, drove fine to school, leaving parking lot couldn't get it into 2nd. Limped to place where repairs were done, drove it with their mechanic and it ran the whole gamut......fine, slipping, fine, slight delay and fine again.
They said I had to run it by dealer to see if it was accident related, but they highly doubted it.
1. Anyone know what's happening
2. Is it mechanical or electrical (sensor, PCM...)?
3. Could this be the result from such a harsh impact (jarred something loose)?
Things I've tried/checked
Fluid level fine
No obvious leaks
Tried to reset PCM, not sure I did it correctly.....both batteries, lights left on over an hour.
Any thoughts, comments, suggestions would be most welcome.
Again, I'm not a complete idiot......but at my age I seem to be heading toward that direction
