Red face Black smoke BILLOWING and a knocking on the passanger side

Hey guys! I have a 2003 F250 King Ranch 6.0L. All stock except my intake filter. In March I did the normal maintenance (oil change, filters, radiator flush and coolant change) and also changed the CPS. Rev X in the oil and Lucas in the fuel. Yesterday it started smoking black pretty bad even at an idle. Today it smoked horrid and is now making a knocking sound on the passenger side. Pretty sure I got some bad diesel. I only go to a few stations but had to stop at this particular one that is known for bad diesel. I am not throwing any codes or indication lights. All my gauges are staying where they should. The smoke smells heavy in diesel. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance from a girl who loves her truck!

Any ideas on how to tell which one it could be? It's coming from the passenger side. I am guessing maybe #5 but can't be sure.

The knock or black smoke on the passenger side. Hopefully just the knock.

To verify, have it checked at a shop that is reputable for the 6.0L.

I live in the middle of a pot hole in New Mexico. Only place for my truck is the stealership and they messed it up more than anything last time. I have been doing all the repairs myself.

BTW, welcome to the org.

I don't doubt you one bit about the "stealerships"

Best thing for you can do for yourself is invest in AutoEnginuity software for a laptop. Truly a thing of beauty to troubleshoot our trucks

You need to get access to a scan tool that can do a buzz test. Auto Engenuity is the most common one, a bit expensive but is worth it because it can be used for several other tests and pulling codes.

Any ideas if you can rent a scanner? Hubby is military and we are not rich! LoL Hoping to have it all done this weekend. That is the best case scenario!
