03 problems
Boss has a '03 KingRanch that has about 80k on it, injector(s) replaced at 67k when he bought it. Two weeks ago was missing, needed 2 injectors, now since the temps dropped this week (low 30s) started missing again and even being plugged in, 10-15 min to warm up.
Guess injectors....... so question is will aftermarket injectors fix this? Looking at exhaust, air, and programer to put the performace injectors in? Or sell and get an '05?? |

something tells me hes not doing fuel filters every 5000 as that is way less than is nessicary, but i could be wrong....but the most common cause for injector failure is poor oil quality and low fuel pressure caused by plugged fuel filters. if all is being taken care of appropriately then i cant really give you much of a "cause" for the failures

Fuel filter was changed when truck was bought, and was changed by accident the next oil change since I wasn't the one that did it, also changed it this oil change being one of the local mechanics mention the fuel filter and we do have our own tank on site that we refuel at. Boss says filters are cheaper than injectors....

k, now we might be getting somewere..... U say you fill from a tank at your work.....is there ANY chance of there being any water in the tank? Water commonly accumulates over time with condensation from heating and cooling cycles from ambiant air. 6.0 injectors are VERY dependent on clean, DRY fuel delivered at proper pressures. If there is any water in that fuel at all it could be the whole problem with this latest injector problem |

possible water but not likely. We go through about 500 gal. every 2 weeks and since boss is a mantaince freak he dumps 2 bottles of some kind of water eliminator/booster/conditioner stuff in the tank, and the pump has a water separator and filter on it. I personally don't change them till they are on my list of things to do. I see boss draining the filters every time I see him refueling. I am guessing some where aournd every 2-2500 gals. on the fuel pump tanks.

well, honestly if all you say is true, i dont know exactly what to attribute the failures to. Just out of curiosity, what injectors were replaced when he bought it and are the they same or different injectors than have failed this time?? If they are different injectors it could be that hes just finishing off the origional bad injector design. A side not, if the oil was thing when you drained it as you said, DONT DRIVE IT if you can smell diesel in the oil as there is the possibility of a runaway |

What is a runaway (leaky injectors)? When do you recommend replacing the fuel filters? Is this both the one on the frame rail by the pump and the one by the oil filter? Do you think a bully dog triple dog will hurt the injectors by increasing the pressures? If so about how long should they last? Thanks |
