Miss on Accel

So I am new to the diesel scene, just bought an 05 f250 with 130,000 miles on it. Ive had it for about 6 months and it just started missing a little bit on acceleration. It only does it when I slightly give it gas, like if its on cruise and i hit a hill it will miss. It doesnt do it every time though. I have also noticed a couple of times that when I slightly accelerate my rpms will actually drop for a second or two and then kick back up. My question is, what items do I need to check? I have done an oil change with full synthetic oil, and I am going to replace the fuel filter this week. What other problems could contribute to this issue, and what steps should I take to figure it out. Once again I am new to the diesel scene, so please excuse any newbie questions I might ask. Thanks in advance for any help.

To be honest im not quite sure if it ever has been done. I just bought it 6 months ago and I know I havent done it. Im guessing I can take it to a ford dealership and they could do a flash? And there hasnt been any other issues, starts just fine, idles great. I dont have a way to check and see if it is giving any codes either, other than taking it to ford.

Welcome to the org, check out the stickys... this one in particular

Write Up: Monitoring the 6.0L PSD.

These trucks run great but monitoring them is very important. Do you have access to a scantool to pull DTCs?
