Ficm Tuner Error

I have an Innovative Diesel FICM tuner with 2 tunes. Back in April I put on the economy FICM tune with no issues. Today I decided to change the FICM tune to the performance. I pulled the FICM relay and the tuner is giving an error E-38. The truck or software does not match. The truck nor the tuner has been touched or changed at all. Does anyone know what this means?

I have an idp ficm tuner that's throwing a g81 error code and now I have a no start issue. Can't return the truck to stock and can't start the truck. Any help is appreciated.

From what I've read on here, they tell you to be running a stock ECM tune when you flash the FICM so that it locks the VIN into the FICM tuner. If you change ECM tunes with an aftermarket tuner, it locks that tuner's serial into the FICM tuner where the VIN would be If I've read correctly. Basically, IF you had a stock ECM tune when you tuned the FICM, go back to a stock ECM flash and see if the FICM tuner will now work. OR, if you were running a custom tune, go back to that tune using the same tuner you put it on with. Then try the FICM tuner and see if it works. Don't forget to pull the FICM relay first before trying the FICM tuner. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. Just hadn't seen any replies yet.

Give Eric a call over at Innovative Diesel. He should be able to get you squared away quickly. If we can help with anything in the meantime, just let me know. We can certainly roll your FICM back to stock for you, but you should give Eric the opportunity to take care of you first. If we roll the FICM back to stock, you will probably void any warranty on the programmer anyway since it should be VIN locked to the truck.

i had this...update your tuner online with super chips, did that and problem solved....just make sure whatever tune was present when you flashed it is currently loaded into PCM....then update it and switch to whatever PCM tune you want
