turbo noise???

this is weird......

i have an 05, 70,000 on my 6.0, the past several months this has happened half dozen times. Sometimes when I trailer and do not have to tow/haul in gauged this happens..when I accelerate and let off I am getting a rattle coming from the turbo, or thats what it sounds like but not 100% sure, I seem to lose turbo psi when this happpens and it does not want to shift or it shifts at a high rpm, this just happens for maybe 1 mile and goes away.

This has not happened to me when Im trailering and the tow/haul is in gauged before i start driving, and it has not happened at all just driving the truck with nothing in tow.

I bought this truck new in 2005 and everything is stock

Please help, thank you!!

Is it a rattling like metal on metal type sound? Is the turbo at full song (boost) when you let off the throttle?

The turbo will make a sound like a bursts of air when its up in full boost and you take your foot out of it once or twice with the stock box. Its more present with after market intakes. Its hard to say if its normal or not with out actually hearing it. It might be worth it to get a mechanic to ride along with you if you can duplicate the sound for them. Sorry I'm not really any help here.

Check the three bolts that hold the turbo to the pedestal, then check the 4 bolts that hold the pedestal to the engine. If all those bolts are tight then it would lead me to believe maybe something in the drive train is banging like u joints, or if you tow a lot check the leaf springs to see if they are broken. I had a customer that towed excavators almost daily and had a banging sound at take off or anytime he hit the throttle kind of hard, turned out both rear leaf springs had a broken leaf in the middle which was causing that sound.

Saw a ford mechanic today, looks like i just need to clean my turbo, he said its the veins in the turbo, most likey some rust in it he said due to the fact that the truck is driven once maybe twice a week.
