Egt probe question

Hey y'all I put my egt probe in today but it sounds like the edge of the probe is hitting the other side of the manifold will that effect the readings

If it's touching, the readings will be off. I have a solution for the issue though. Will just take a trip to a hardware store and some extra time.

Just spit balling here, but it would seem to me that the real effect would be in the cool down. I think that the cat iron would cool slower than the exhaust gases. I hate to say it, but if it's touching the cast iron, I would plug that hole with an NPT plug and drill another one. Someone had a power adder on my truck whose EGT probe was a different size than the Edge and Auto Meter EGT probes, so I have a plugged hole AND an EGT probe in my left manifold.
