park switch

hey i have this problem where i can start my 03 f250 and it will run and all my lights and accessorries work but when i push on the brake it will not let me get out of park and i have to sit there for a while until it finally pops in after playing with it.

i found this brake light switch it says it controls lights and the cruise control off switch but does it control my parking paw?

Most likely that switch is your problem, it sends a signal to the brake lights and also sends a signal to your interlock solenoid in the steering column to release the shifter from park.

In an emergency if your truck won't shift out of park, shut off the engine, then turn your key to the run position, hold the brake and shift the truck into neutral, then start the truck and shift to drive or reverse.

Make sure your brake lights are working when you depress the pedal, i know a lot of cars use that signal to control the shift interlock
