Truck is in drive, but won't go...at all
I've had this issue 3 times now, 2 times I figured it was just cold, but this time it was all warmed up.
The first time I experienced it my camper was hooked up. I started the truck, let it idol for 10 min or so, went to put it into drive, nothing, no revving of engine, no power, nothing. Same thing for reverse, all other gears, and with tow mode on or off. Then, when leaving camping, it happened again. Each time I have to turn it off, then back on or it to engage and go.
Basically, today, I came to an intersection, and came to a stop. My truck started to idol hard, sort of shaking me left and right. When it turned green, I gave the truck gas, but nothing, no revving of the engine, just idol speed. I popped on my hazards, coasted through the busy intersection, popped it into neutral, turned it off, then back, put in drive, and vroom it went.
My truck is a 2004 F-250 6.0 Turbo Diesel. It has around 130k miles on it. I average about 1-2k miles a year (mainly just tow a camper with it).
I plan on upgrading the truck shortly, but was hoping to make it to next year before doing so.
I will take it to a mechanic this week, but was wondering if anyone else knew what this problem was, if there was a quick fix I could do (0 knowledge when it comes to engines), etc.
One thing to note is my vehicle runs very cold, if it's not warm, it won't go. But, the engine revvs and wants to go, it's just cold and won't. This issue the engine won't even rev.
One other note is all of this has happened on the same tank of gas.
