CEL on again......

well, i made a trip to the mountains today, and guess what, a mile from home my CEL came on again. Seems like everytime i go to the hills i get a light. Dont know if it because i cant rev it up real high or what, also, i added some Diesel Kleen to this tank, that always seems to be a factor too. Not sure what to do now. I am really getting tired of these lights coming on. Any idea on where i can go to have it downloaded other than the dealership. I always feel like i am not getting the whole story with the dealer ya know. Anyway, i will post again when i find out what the deal is with the light.

went to the local Checker auto and used their downloader, came up with a P1331 code, said it was a manufacture specific code. ANy idea on what this code might be. I have had it before and it ended up being a turbo, but then again my service advisor was a total idiot, never told me what the actual code meant. Any info would be great. thanks.

Hmm, that's a good one, I can't find it on any list i have. BTW any code below the number 1000 are generic emisson codes, anything above 1000 is manufacturer specific.

Well, another day gone and no CEL. I hope this is a goo thing. I even drove it a little harder than usual to see if it would trigger the light but nothing. One question, if i get a light, then it is cleared, if there is still an issue then i should get the light again quickly right? Or will it take a while to show up?

Sometimes certain codes have to monitor a fault for a certain number of "drive cycles" before it will kick the MIL on, a good code scanner will show you the pending codes (seen a fault but not enough to set the MIL) and you can see if the problem is still there

Cool, so another question, and this may sound dumb but, would my 04' engine and computer be the same as an 03'? If i remember right, the scanner went up to an 03' model. So now i am wondering if it even read the code right.
