need some advice on upgrades

Not sure if this is the correct section but I am currently deployed and when I get back I am planning on doing some of the basic upgrades to my 6.0 like the arp head studs and bulletproof egr upgrade but I was wondering if it is necessary to also get the oil cooler upgrade at the same time or is it one of those upgrades that can wait?

I am planning on doing the arp head studs, the egr cooler upgrade, volant ram air itake, diamond eye 4 inch turbo back exhaust, 4.5 lift, and sct tuner with edge cts. Pretty much I am trying to figure out if I need to do the oil cooler upgrade at the same time or if it can wait. Any help would be awesome.

Really depends on the health of your oil cooler now, but in my opinion, if you're going through that much trouble to do everything else, that would be the time to do the oil cooler upgrade. That's just my .

Yeah. What you need to do is install your CTS before you do any upgrades and then watch your temp difference between ECT and EOT. That will tell you if your oil cooler is ok.

ECT is Engine Coolant Temp and EOT is Engine Oil Temp. You need to watch your temps while maintaining 65 mph on flat ground with no load. You don't want to see 15 or more difference between the two temps.

Ok, so as long as both of those stay within 15 degrees of each other then my oil cooler is good to go? My next question is if I didnt go with the all out bulletproof oil cooler which is close to 1900 bucks would the semi bulletproof kit work to what I need? Im just trying to make sure I dont have to worry about this engine or this truck for a long time so I am tryig to fix the issues that 6.0s are known for.

i hear ya there, now if i were to just do the semi bullet proof kit do you think it would handle the other upgrades i plan on doing to the truck and i wouldnt have to worry about it or should i just try to scrap up the money and do the full replacement and bulletproof the entire truck?

If you're talking about the oil cooler kit that reuses your stock filter housing, it is a great kit. I installed one over the Winter and he's running 190/50 injectors and a Stage 2 turbo pushing 545hp and 1000+ ft lbs of torque with no issues.
