Boost Gauge

Well I have searched through the forums about this boost gauge problem but I haven't found an answer. Basically my problem is that my boost gauge (Auto Meter Ultralite 2) bounces all over the place. I put a T into the map line according to the instructions and I am sure there is no leak, no kink in the boost line and everything is as it should be. But when I get on it, the gauge jumps/bounces between 23-30 lbs. Even under normal driving it will bounce(not nearly as bad as wot) between 10-15 lbs.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. It is rather annoying to hear the needle jumping over the sound of the straight pipe exhaust.

p.s. Got my heater/coolant problem diagnosed. Head Gaskets are gone. Hope that my ARP studs are in by the time it goes into the dealership next week.

I had a set of Autometer Lunar Series gauges and the boost gauge would always flutter and bounce it was a PITA. I ditched the Autometers for a set of Isspro's and they are 1000% better. They gauges are perfectly accurate and work flawlessly. Anyone that asks questions about gauges, I always tell them that my Isspro's are superior to my old Autometer's.

are you certain you got a good seal on the line for it? its common for people not to get them to seal right and they will flutter or read low then....

I've always used autometer guages and never had a problem with them.

I am about 99% sure that everything is sealed up right. I will check again tomorrow. Was thinking that the T might be the problem. Heard that tapping the elbow on the intake would be a better place?

+1 the elbow is a better place than the map line. Steady read and nice and accurate too. I haven't had a single problem with my tap and my Autometer Z gauge.

I agree Ive got the z-series taped in the intake el w/no problems. the installers on the web sites ive seen recommend this to ward off such problems.

Well I triple checked and everything is sealed up with the T in the map line. I went and ordered a new map line so I can replace the T and tap into the intake elbow instead.
