Question trucks making weird noise

I just recently purchased a 2003 f350 powerstroke. Lucked out and found one with 26k on it. First day driving it, going along at about 50mph when I started giving the truck throttle and started feeling it skipping. Angry I stuffed the gas only to have it happen again. I pulled over and let the truck idle for a few minutes pulled out and had no problems after that, until today. Going up a hill at the same speed (50) gave the truck throttle it down shifted and started skipping again. I've got a warranty on the truck but am trying to prepare myself for what possible major problem I could run into. My luck isn't the greatest...hopefully a easy fix?

could be couple or easy fixes or couple of not so easy fixes...

congrats on truck they are finicky but good

1. have you hooked a set of gauges on it to check some coltages and temps?

you wanna check and make sure FICM voltage is about 46v at bare-minimum

check the difference in temp between ect(engine coolant temp) and eot (engine oil temp).

sounds like a fuel or HPOP (hi pressure oil pump) or system error a small leak is easy to fix with an air check. a bad pump is not so easy. other more experience will chime in. the warranty should be quite helpfull with low miles.

Just the gages one the trucks dash. Everything looked fine...the skipping was almost like hitting the rev limiter

im thinking high pressure oil leak. does it do it randomly or mostly when wot (wide open throttle) your truck needs 500 oil psi to just start theres a way to check but its been along time i'll look real quick.

not sure about cold other then the oil pressure there are some o rings under the valve cover that go bad could be really easy fix you just need to find how to hook air pressure to it and listen for hissing etc...

It's only happened twice both times under throttle, not full throttle but enough to make it down shift
