Led to Accident.........

I'm not here to rile anyone, So don't take offense......I'm not bashing fords...

My friend had an bad accident a couple weeks ago, while driving his 04 CC Sb 6.0l Ford 4x4.

While driving on a wet road, on cruise at 55mph, he came upon a long sweeping 55mph corner, He tapped the brakes to turn off the cruise, and the truck floored the engine. Unable to get the engine to idle down, and not thinking fast enough to turn off the key, he mashed the brakes, and the rear tires started spinning, he did a 180, then left the road. the truck rolled twice, threw two passangers out through the back window, and came to rest upright.

After the truck came to rest, iyt sat there with the rear tires still spinning, and the engine racing wide open, it ran that way, until a passerby turned off the key..... of four people in the truck, two suffered extensive injuries.. one with a broken neck in three places...

Not believing his story, I went to the lot where the truck was towed, reached in and turned the key, and the engine strated, and took off wide open. The Insurance co. , has it sealed, and an independant mechanical investigating co. coming to inspect it.

Has ANYONE had probs with the cruise control racing away?........ I know about the recall, but don't think it applies to '04's....
I hope it doesn't happen to anyone else....!!!

BE SAFE!

That's a new one around here, that's for sure. Our thoughts and prayers go out to your friend and the other's injured. If you wouldn't mind we'd like to hear what the findings were when it's looked into. Was his truck completely stock?

honestly this wouldnt physically be possible. This truck is driven by high pressur oil. In the event of the truck being upside down, there would be no oil for the pickup to get, which would leade to oil starvation to the HP resevour and the HPOP not delivering any oil to the injectors to run them, making there no possible way they could fire. Also, the fuel tank would have to be plum full for there even to be any fuel to get to the lines through the sender. The truck wont fire if trans is not in nuetral or park.....

Something is fishy here man, the idea of a runaway is possible, if the injectors were leakeing down and got the truck started to run on the oil, but from there is where the story gets fishy. If the truck was runing on the crancase oil, the only way to shut the motor off would be to plug the intake completely shut.......which means it couldnt have been burning the oil, and as i stated above, the motor wont run upside down anyway...

you cant stop a runaway by turning they key off though....it all makes sence except that part.....and if it did shut down, it would be due to lack of oil left and would not have refired the second time...

Sorry, i misread though, i thought he stated it landed upside down, not rightside up...

Also, if it was truely a runaway, it would have kept going (down the road) if it had landed right side up, since the brakes are not strong enough to keep a runaway held back.....

It prolly landed in a field marc, not necessarily on the road. it could have been stuck, or pushing against something...

Thoughts and prayers are with your friends, please keep us up to date!

Adam
