This does sound very odd. I did have a similar circumstance in my 99. As I was trying to slow to a red light my cruise stayed on when I pushed on the brake pedal. It didn't try to rev up or "run away" it just held it's ground, it stopped the moment that I hit the "off" button on the wheel. It never happened after that.

Also, the fuel tank would have to be plum full for there even to be any fuel to get to the lines through the sender. The truck wont fire if trans is not in nuetral or park.....

Something is fishy here man, the idea of a runaway is possible, if the injectors were leakeing down and got the truck started to run on the oil, but from there is where the story gets fishy. If the truck was runing on the crancase oil, the only way to shut the motor off would be to plug the intake completely shut.......which means it couldnt have been burning the oil, and as i stated above, the motor wont run upside down anyway...
Marc I hate to tell you but they will run upside down. I know from first hand experience. I rolled my early 99 and it ran for about a good minute before I could actually turn the key off. Sorry for the hijack

I think he's referring to actually starting it after the engine has stopped and the oil has had time to drain to the top......

no, i was refferring to actually runing upside down....although its a mute point since i misread and this incident didnt come to that..

Lilred, your motor must have been at just the perfect angle so the pickup was still getting oil, but generally this wouldnt happen...

Lets not jump to conclusions here, what he posted may have inadvertently lacked some details that were important for the reader. When he post again, we'll figure this out.

Yeah I had a few questions about it too but I'm with Clay, lets wait to see what his response is to some of the questions. If he doesn't come back I'll check the local news online where he's at and see if we can get some more details as to the accident.
