0404 code

2005 6.0 excursion changed egr valve intake not clogged but soot is kind-of greasy 208000 miles original egr cooler no coolant lose sometimes it runs rough .rpm s fluctuate 10-15 not much but concerning.can the egr cooler clog with soot?i am bulletproofing soon.egr valve is bostech has code p0404 what does this code mean

P0404 is a stuck or failed EGR Valve.

What makes rpm fluxuate 10-15 rpms .2005 6.0 powerstroke

You wont be able to tell a 10 to 15 rpm change, maybe a 100 to 150 rpm change, definitely a 1000 to 1500 rpm change. Check your ICP with a scanguage or torque app and see if its giving sporadic readings.

Are you seeing this fluctuation on an insight, scangauge, or some type of monitor??? Is this at idle only, at a stop in gear, driving??? How frequent is this happening?
