High Speed Vibration

My 05 F250 has a vibration when going down the Hwy. I checked and found the U joint at the front of the rear drive shaft had some play in it. Would that alone cause the vibration or would it take more then that like maybe the bearing support in the center of the truck

Re: High Speed Vibration

That would probably do it alone.

Re: High Speed Vibration

bad u joints can cause vibes. Replace those and see if it stops. If it continues, check your trans mount, then carrier bearing.

I replaced both u joints on the rear shaft and still have a vibrations at Hwy. speed. I looked at the tranny (tried to move it around) and carrier bearing and theres no noticable sign of wear or movement. Checked both rear tires pressure, even swithed them ! still feel a vibration at the rear of the truck.

I had a vibration that was very noticeable at a certain speed, I think it was 40-50mph. I tried everything, and finally found a balance weight was gone off the driveshaft.

Does it continue to vibrate if you get up to speed (try it going down a very long hill) and then pop it into neutral?
