6.0 EGR PO 404 Code

Well I bought a used 2004 F250 with the 6.0 from a dealer. I am still in the 30 day warranty plus I opted for the extended warranty from them. I had the truck for 1 week and i was experiencing a CEL then bad smoke and choking under 1800 RPM when hot. Would work fine when cold until it reached full temp. The code came up PO 404. I brought it back to the dealer and they said it was the EGR valve and Oil Cooler. They are going to replace it. I don't know too much yet about these 6.0 liter engines. But does that sound right? Are they doing the right thing?

Sounds like they're doing the right thing. Probably an EGR cooler starting to slow leak and gunked up the EGR valve causing it to stick open. Unfortunately this is very common
