egr cooler question

Hey all

So I was tearing into my truck today to get prepped for an egr cooler/oil cooler change and found this.

Now I dont know much about these coolers but it doesnt look like the factory ones I see coming out of trucks that have failed. Could this one be failed? Can you tell by looking at it? I was having some puking going on and took it to the dealer. They diagnosed the egr cooler as bad. Im just afraid of it being my headgaskets.

Here are some more pictures of it

Thanks for the fast response. I know early 03 coolers are round and more expensive at BPD by a $100. But I guess I was more curious about the internals. Round tubes instead of fins like all the pictures I see.

It's hard to tell but really that cooler doesn't look bad. What kind of symptoms was your truck giving you?
