We pulled the injectors out of an 03' F350 today at work and this is what we found. The entire injector cup and tip was covered and most of it flaked off when we pulled it. It is a soild green substenance. Dried coolant? Algae? What do you guys think? The truck's been having idiling problems and smokes like crazy when you have it running. Sometimes the smoke is white, others its black.

Looks like the sludge you get out of the block doing a coolant flush to me.

Possibly left over loctite 620 from an injector cup replacement.

Would that stuff stay on there for a long time? Wouldn't it have burnt off by now?

Well considering it is used to hold injector cups in the cylinder head I'm sure it wouldn't burn off.
All I know for sure is that it is green, other than the color similarities I don't know what it is |

Was it the cups or head?
